Enchantress katana suicide squad anime12/30/2023 Out of any super hero to get rebooted, Batman seems to get the most reboots which also mean we get to see a newer version of his arch nemesis The Joker. The other members on the other hand are another story. Granted he is seen wearing a blue jacket like Captain Boomerang and a wife beater but I have a feeling that at some point we will see him without his shirt. The movie counterpart is just some guy who has tattoos. His comic book counterpart just looks like a guy with tattoos. This version of EL Diablo is based on the third incarnation of the comic book character since there can be multiple incarnations of any character in comic books like the amount of people who have taken up the mantle of superheroes like Robin or The Flash. El Diablo is a gangster with pyrokinetic powers. Her costume in the movie isn’t quite a fiber copy of the comic book counterpart but at least I get the idea that it is Katana. Katana is an expert martial artist and swordswoman. The movie incarnation will be played by Will Smith, however I’m totally okay with Will Smith playing the role of Deadshot since I feel that this is the type of character that I can imagine Will Smith playing the role of. Really the only problem that I have with the character is the placement of the eyepiece for the costume since it’s on the wrong eye and the character in the comics is usually Caucasian in the comics. ![]() ![]() Deadshot in the comics is a hired assassin who never misses his target (hence the name). After the first image of the suicide squad came out, some people have mixed feelings about the tone and designs of the members of the squad.Īs far as character designs go, where do I even begin? Really the only three members that I’m okay in terms of overall design are Deadshot, Katana, and El Diablo since the three of them out of the members of Suicide Squad look the closest to their comic book counterparts. Key words supposed to be the Suicide Squad. When the first promo image of the Suicide Squad first appeared, I saw a bunch of characters that are supposed to be the Suicide Squad. With the direction that DC and WB is going, it feels like we are going backwards to some degree. We are in the golden age of comic book movies when most superheroes look like their comic book counterparts (most of the time). When I look at most of the characters in this movie, I see what superheroes looked like during the late 90’s and early 2000’s like what 20th Century Fox did with the first few X-Men movies wear the characters looked nothing like their comic book counterparts. Even though they already did that with The Dark Knight trilogy. DC and WB for some reason want to make their DCCU “dark and gritty” in comparison to the MCU’s cartoon-est tone. Lets talk about the tone of the movie first. Not only is the placement of this movie within the DCCU raises a few questions, the overall tone and designs of the characters are also big problems that I have with the movie and it’s not even out yet. Superman: Dawn of Justice, I can at least see how it would tie in with the Justice League movie. ![]() Even though I’m not liking the set up for Batman vs. ![]() Going back to the Suicide Squad movie on the other hand in terms of how it fits in with its DCCU really bugs me. We know the direction of where the over arcing story of the MCU is going like foreshadowing the events for Avengers: Infinity War parts 1 and 2. While Ant-Man hints the fourth coming of Captain America: Civil War and a possible Ant-Man sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy may not necessarily have big hints like some of the other MARVEL movies but with a combination of characters and plot devices introduced. However there is enough material that these movies to build up for future movies. With films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, these films are very out there and look like they have nothing to do with the over arcing story of the MCU. Even if some of the movies in the MCU aren’t perfect they still add something to the over arcing story of the MCU. I understand the structure of the MCU a lot more since there is structure in the MCU timeline. I just don’t understand the story structure of the DCCU. I really want to know how this connects with the rest of the DCCU and what role will Task-Force X play in the rest of the DCCU. With the Suicide Squad, the film is about a bunch of super-villains called Task-Force X trying to find redemption for themselves and shorten their prison sentences by going on dangerous missions. So remember my last blog about what I though went wrong with DC in terms of setting up their own cinematic universe? Well this is the continuation of it talking about the third film in the DC Cinematic Universe Suicide Squad.
